It was my first experience… and “fresh”

In the expression “It was my first experience to eat raw oysters fresh out of the shell.” fresh means the oysters were eaten as soon as they were opened. And “It was my first experience…” means this is the first time to eat them this way.

“It was my first experience to ride a bicycle last summer.” means you rode a bicycle for the first time last summer.
