another vs. other
Filed Under Grammar (文法) | Leave a Comment
- another - used to describe one more thing.
- other - used to describe more than one.
Let’s look at this example:
“I had another drink made from the other juices.” would mean you already drank something, and now you are going to drink one more made from more than one juice, like apple and orange juice.

“another” vs. “other”
Filed Under vocabulary | Leave a Comment
“Is a trip to Hawaii more expensive than other trip?” is incorrect because the word other means plural which therefore requires the word after it (i.e. trip) to be plural. So the correct sentence is Is a trip to Hawaii more expensive than other trips?”
To use another in this sentence, you would say “Is a trip to Hawaii more expensive than another trip?”, but this form is not used. Instead you would say “Is there another trip more expensive than Hawaii?”
