“a sign” vs. “asign”

When pronouncing these words, they can be mistaken for the other. Be careful and pronounce each correctly, because
a sign - means a signal or a board with something written on it.
asign - means to give someone a task (or something to do) or associate something with something else. For example, “I was assigned the task of cleaning up.”
The noun form of asign is assignment. This is the same meaning as task. If you ever watched the movie Mission Impossible, the beginning of the movie starts out with a tape recording that says, “Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is…” Assignment is also used by school teachers when they really mean “homework”.
